Registration of New Born Child
ONLINE REGISTRATION OF BIRTH OF NEW BORN CHILD OF INDIAN PARENT/S
It has been made mandatory by Government of India for registering online the birth of a child as Indian citizen. For detailed information, applicants are requested to visit the website of Ministry of Home Affairs https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in.
PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION OF BIRTH
1. Please visit https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in for registration of the new-born child as Indian citizen. Please select the last option (Registration of birth of minor child at an Indian Consulate under Section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955). Before filling up the online form, please check eligibility criteria for Indian citizenship and other instructions,
2. After filling-up all the details, the form should be saved and a printout is to be taken,
3. As soon as the form is submitted on the portal, an MHA File Number will be generated automatically,
4. The applicant should take the print-out of the online application and MHA File Number. The application along with the requisite supporting documents as mentioned below (both original and copies) is to be submitted to the Consular Section, Embassy of India, Cairo:
i) A copy of the birth certificate of the child, issued by the local authorities and duly attested/apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt. of A.R. Egypt,
ii) Copy of passports of both the parents (first and last page)
iii) Copy of the certificate of Indian citizenship of parents, if acquired, by registration / naturalization,
iv) Copy of the parents’ marriage certificate duly attested or authenticated or apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, if the certificate is issued by Indian authorities and duly attested or authenticated or apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of A.R. Egypt, if the certificate is issued by the Egyptian authorities,
v) A declaration by both the parents that the minor child does not hold passport of any other country,
5. Physical application is to be submitted personally by both the parents at the Consular Section, Embassy of India, Cairo.
6. If the applicants desire to apply for passport for the new born child, he may visit https://portal5.passportindia.gov.in. There will be separate fees for Registration of birth and passport services.
