India and Egypt, two of the world’s oldest civilizations, have enjoyed a history of close contact from ancient times. Egypt has traditionally been one of India's most important trading partners in the African continent. Cultural exchanges between the two countries have existed since time immemorial. The strong ties between India and Egypt are evident from the affection towards India amongst the Egyptians. The strong people-to-people relations go beyond institutions and business goes on as usual with or even without government support and intervention. And now after the assumption of office by President Sisi in Egypt and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India, we are witnessing a new phase in bilateral relations defined as New Partnership in the New Era to respond effectively to the opportunities and challenges of the 21st Century.
